It’s 8 am on a Sunday morning. I’m about to hit the snooze button on my phone for the second time, cursing myself for not turning off my work alarm when I realise that today is Comic con!
Throwing off the covers I hurried down stairs to get ready having already decided the previous night I wasn’t going in Cosplay the process didn’t take long. You have to understand this was my first comic con experience – alas a small one but my first all the same. I’ve never been to a real comic con though it’s definitely something I would like to do soon but this was the closest thing to the real deal as I was gonna get anytime soon and I was eager to get there.
Having wolfed down breakfast I said goodbye to the dog who looked utterly betrayed by my departure and set off for con. When we arrived we were given our stamps and headed inside and I was surprised by the amount of people in there. I live in a small town but the place was packed with fellow geeks goers all mingling as one big happy family.
We hit the trader tables first, aweing over the merchandise for sale. I was on the hunt for a few things for my shelf I’m in the process of making but unfortunately couldn’t find any I wanted. There were so many different stalls from Marvel and DC to Harry Potter as well as individual companies who were selling crafts and cakes all designed in comic themes. There was an AMAZING Millennium Falcon cake there that I had a piece of and it tasted as good as it looked!
After hitting the tables we headed upstairs to watch a Disney Lip Sync Battle before going to take photos of some of the cosplayers there. There were both professional and amateur there as there were competitions on throughout the day but they all looked amazing. My friend was there dressed as Pennywise the Clown aka IT and she looked bloody fantastic and won first place. After getting a bite to eat we stood chatting away to my friend when I saw him from across the hall. There was no way I could not recognise that mask and ran off to get a photo with my favourite villain – Bane.
After watching Obi Wan Kenobi and Kylo Ren teach some young Panawans how to use a light sabre we headed to meet Groot who just arrived. His costume was amazing though the poor bugger must have been sweating to death! Watching everyone get photos with him I decided I wanted to go all out geek and do something a bit different…. I have to say I was pretty amused with myself.
After staying a few hours and shooting some BB guns we decided to head back. It was such a fun day and it really made me wanna go to London Comic con even more! I’m hoping to go this year or next so keep your fingers crossed for me! Have a good day!
Until Next time!
