Okay I’ll admit . I love Netflix. Now call me basic but there is nothing I love more than sprawling on the sofa in my pyjamas for a night of binge watching all my current obsessions whilst eating my weight in all kinds of unhealthy deliciousness.
Now you can try and deny it but we have all fallen to the lure that is ‘Netflix and Chill’ and when I say chill, I mean chill. Not the sexual innuendo it seems to have become. I mean do you really think I wanna do the dance with no pants when Damon Salvatore’s life is in jeopardy? Sorry but I’ve invested far too much time into this show to miss what happens now.
So why is Netflix so popular? Well it has no shortage of choices. From all our favourite TV shows to blockbuster movies and documentaries Netflix always has something new for you to try. So today I am bringing you my current TV favourites so that you can enjoy them too!
The Vampire Diaries
It should come as no surprise given my earlier statement that The Vampire Diaries made it into my favourites. I still haven’t finished the whole series as I waited for it to air Netflix before delving into the world of Mystic Falls. This was because there are HUNDREDS of teen vampire movies, most of them which suck (see what I did there?) but the this is different. I mean sure, it’s still based a 100+ year old vampire falling in love with a young teen (why does no-one ever find this weird btw?!) but there is a lot more too it. It’s got story. It’s got gore. It’s got emotion and most importantly it’s got Damon Salvatore. The sassy bad ass vampire everyone wants in a movie and who makes Edward Cullen look like fairy (don’t hate I like twilight too.)
A very strange but fascinating tv show. Its about society and technology and explores dark themes and challenges the way you think. I cant really explain it well so you are better off just watching it just know that no episode is the same and that it really is very good but be warned that for me the first episode it a little – eh shocking.
Based loosely on the original Scream movies this adaptation centres around Emma, a girl tied to a series of brutal murders in which the killer seems intent on making her the star of the show. The show is totally different from the originals but has some great references, I’ll admit it does get a little repetitive but its a great watch for those horror and thriller fans out there.
Something I didn’t expect to love was Orange is the new black. Hilarious, heart breaking and uplifting it has everything you could want in a tv show. I was hooked from episode one and haven’t looked back since. It’s about the inmates of a ladies prison and their lives behind bars. It explores a lot of deep topics all whilst providing entertainment that keeps you coming back for more. A must watch.
I love the post apocalyptic genre. Pining for the return of Walking Dead I found Survivors helped pass the time whilst I waited for my beloved Negan to return to me. It’s about a group of people who must band together after a pandemic wipes out most of the human race and sees them struggle in a new world with no society, no police, and no law.
A tragic yet eye opening documentary surrounding the life of Tilikum, the Orca who killed three people whilst being held by Sea World and the controversy surrounding captive whales. A must see. 10/10
A Netflix Original which tells the story of a group of friends searching for one of their group after he goes missing and the supernatural events that follow including the appearance of a psychokinetic girl who helps in their search.
So there you have it my current Netflix favourites. Whats some of your current faves? Do yous have any recommendations for me to try?
Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time,
