So the 1st of September is a pretty big deal in my house – and by that I mean it’s a big deal to me. I live with my boyfriend and my dog, neither of which are really bothered that it’s officially the first day of autumn (yey!) or that I didn’t receive my Hogwarts letter for the 10th year running🤔🤔
But amongst all that there is also another reason to celebrate which is because it is also my boyfriend’s birthday! Now my boyfriend isn’t really into birthdays. In fact I get more excited about his birthday than what he does (if any of you have ever watched The Middle – my boyfriend is literally Mike Heck. No Jokes.)
Being unemployed means I’m on a tight budget. So I knew I wouldn’t be able to get him as much as I would have liked however I had some ideas on what else I could do in order to celebrate his day. He was at work for the majority of the day so I used this time to decorate the house in banners and balloons for him to come home too. I washed and bathed the dog so he was smelling fresh before attempting some kind of chocolate birthday cake. Now, for those of you who read by blog regularly you’ll know that I am not the best cook but four hours, two batches later I managed to create some kinda edible chocolate piñata cake.
Once he was home I gave him his gifts and ordered take away for tea (he had pizza whereas I went for a parmo) before heading for a family walk with the dog. When we got back, I gave him a full body massage and gave him full control of the TV including what we watched and when before curling up to watch a movie.
Now low budget birthdays aren’t something we wish to do but sometimes we don’t have a choice but there a lot of things you can do that don’t cost money that can show someone that you care whether its for a birthday, Christmas etc. And hey it’s the thought that counts right?
Anyways that’s all from me today. I just wanted to put this out there in case there is anyone else in a similar situation who could use a few ideas (I’ll also be doing a blog post on this sometime soon so keep your eyes peeled! 👀)
Thanks for stopping by!
Until next time,
