Some of you may have already seen on my Instagram that I was at my nephews christening on Sunday. It was a lovely day, celebrated with family friends and decided to do a little GRWM for what I wore on the day.
Now, before I get in to my routine etc. you should know that I take forever to get ready. I mean literally. I’m so bad that my friends actually lie about what time I need to be ready for so I’m more likely to be on time. Why does it take me so long you ask? Because to me, getting ready is half the fun of going out. It’s like sacred ritual to me and lets be honest there’s a lot to do! I gotta do my hair. My nails. My makeup. This stuff takes time. I know there are some people who can have a quick wash and change and they are good to go but that’s just not me. So don’t come knocking on the door, asking how long I’m gonna be and mess with my Chi. I just wanna play my music, drink my Amaretto and enjoy getting ready.
I always do my tan the night before as it’s more convenient should anything go wrong and because I know I wont have time on the morning of the event because of how long it takes me to get read. I’ve found it difficult to find a tan that works on me but finally came across St. Moritz 60 minute tan which works as both an instant and developing tan. You can pop it straight on for immediate colour but the colour darkens the longer you leave it on. 1 hour gives you a light tan, 2 hours is medium and 3 hours gives you a dark tan but this all depends on what shade you buy it in. I get medium as I’m naturally quite pale and leave it on between 3-5 hours before washing it off which leaves me which a lovely golden base. I find this so easy to apply as you can see any areas you have missed and doesn’t leave that typical fake tan smell.
I’m not a big fan when it comes to nails but that is probably because I cant paint nails to save my life. I’ve tried so many times and just end up with a big splogy mess. However I did invest in a new nail varnish to match my dress for the christening and I have to admit, I absolutely love it. I got it from Barry M in a gorgeous deep bronze/rose gold colour with glitter that gave a metal like look. It took me a few tries the night before the christening but with the nail varnish remover on standby I eventually managed to make them look somewhat presentable.
After spending hours looking for inspiration on Pinterest I eventually decided to curl my hair and braid two small plaits at the back of my head to give it a little something extra. My hair is always the first thing I do whenever I get ready because it usually takes me a while due to the length of my hair. However having recently had my hair cut I overestimated how long this would take and ended up with having an extra half an hour on my hands! I used a thick barrelled curler as I like the look of natural effortless waves and made sure to squirt each curl with hair spray to ensure they were locked in place. I always curl away from my face to frame it and when the whole head is done, I like to run my fingers through the curls making them look less neat before giving it one final big spray.
Doing my makeup is by far my favourite part of getting ready. I decided to go for a pink vibe considering my outfit was nude pink with a base that would last me all day. Here’s what I used:
Primer – Benefit Pore Professional
Foundation – Maybelline Fit me Foundation in the shade 115
Powder – RCMA translucent powder
Contour – L’Oréal Infallible Sculpt in the shade light
Highlight – Carli Bybel Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette – I used the two bronze shades
– NYX Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in the shade Pure Gold
Mascara – L’Oréal Miss Baby Roll Mascara
Brows – Maybelline Brow pencil in the shade Dark Blonde
– Maybelline Brow Precise in the medium
Eyeshadow – Morphe 35 Taupe Palette
– Revolution 3 Redemption palette.
I used two different eyeshadow palettes to create my pink glittery look. Only using the pink and neutral shades from both palettes before adding glitter to the centre of my eyelid to create a halo effect.
Lashes – I used the GWA (Girls With Attitude) lashes that are currently stocked in Primark. I went for the natural ones and only cost £3!
Outfit and Accessories
I ordered my dress from Boohoo many weeks before the christening after hours of looking online. I was worried about the sizing but thankfully it fit perfectly. The dress itself was beautiful, even better in person than what it looked online and I immediately fell in love with it.
I went with a skater fit as this suits my shape best with small capped sleeves to cover the tops of my arms. It was a nude pink colour with gold embroidery details and a flares out skirt that came just above my knees. I chose rose gold jewellery (earrings, bracelet and ring) with pink wedged shoes and matching bag that had gold studs to blend in with my outfit as my accessories which all tied in well together.
So that’s my little GRMW! I hope you enjoyed it.
Thank you for stopping by!
Until next time,
